2011 show:
Audition information
Every September we hold a fun audition workshop for Scouts and Guides who would like to be considered for a place in the show.
Auditions for the 2011 show will take place on Sunday 5th September. Ideally we would love to be able to take everyone into the cast but sadly the Alban Arena is just not big enough!
You'll find below a little more information about what to expect should you wish to audition for a place. The most important thing to let you know is that it will be fun, fun, fun! We run the session as a very informal workshop and you'll be taking part as a large group - no singing on your own required!

When does it take place?
The show is in February at the Alban Arena but rehearsals begin in October and take place every Wednesday evening at the District HQ in Waverley Road. In addition there are a few Sundays in the run up to Christmas and in the New Year you will be required every Sunday and some Saturdays. To give an idea of the commitment needed a draft copy of the rehearsal schedule can be found here. It is undoubtedly a big commitment but in order to achieve the high standard of performance this is the minimum amount of rehearsal required. What we can guarantee is that every minute you spend working on the show will be worthwhile as you'll make loads of new friends and the amazing atmosphere of show week has to be experienced to be believed!

Do I need to be able to sing and dance?
A basic ability to sing in tune and move around to music is required. The majority of people do actually have these skills (some just don't know they have them!) At the audition you will be asked to sing with a group of other people and move to some music (again with a group of others). Unfortunately, we have a limit on the amount of people we can physically fit onto the stage so an audition process is necessary. However, don't let this put you off as the audition is a fun workshop designed to ensure that everyone has a good laugh - even if they are not fortunate enough to be offered a place in the show.

What's it like being in the show?
Brilliant, fun, excellent, amazing, superb, wicked, unforgettable are all words which have been used by cast members to sum up what being in the Gang Show is like. Past (and current) cast members reckon it is one of the most amazing experiences you could ever imagine. Put simply it is four months of fun, friendship and a place where you will make everlasting memories.
